MBAC Used Wakeboarding Boat Sale!!
The Mission Bay Aquatic Center is current liquidating it's three remaining 2006 Super Air 210 Nautique wakeboarding boats to make room for it's shipment of 2007 vessels that arrive in December. These boats are priced to move at factory-direct prices.
November 9, 2006-
MBAC selected Best of San Diego in San Diego CityBeat reader's poll
The Mission Bay Aquatic Center was selected as "Best General Interest or Recreational School" in a reader's poll for the Best of San Diego edition of San Diego CityBeat magazine. The edition, released Wednesday, November 8th is titled "Best of San Diego: a toast to authenticity" because reader's were encouraged to vote for places that made San Diego an authentic town.

October 2, 2006-

MBAC and Sharp Hospital serve those who served

LCPL Micah Garza was standing post in Rhamadi, Iraq when he was hit by sniper fire that caused him to lose a portion of his bicep muscle. PFC Joshua Onan's convoy was hit by IED's while on patrol. He sustained significant head, knee, and shrapnel injuries during the attack which took the lives of nine others in his unit.

September 18, 2006-

Mayor Sanders Announces Progress at City's Real Estate Assets Department
Mayor Jerry Sanders announced yesterday substantial progress at the City's Real Estate Assets Department (READ), which just one year ago had lost the confidence of the public after news reports detailed mismanagement of the City's property inventory.

The process of improving READ included a voluntary "time out" on new real estate transactions, which had put a hold on the renewal of the Mission Bay Aquatic Center lease.

San Diego State University ENS Watersport Class Registration Aug 28-Sept 15

While it may be difficult to believe, summer has passed and it is once again time for school to begin. That shouldn't stop you from enjoying Mission Bay. In fact, fall may be the perfect time to do it! Each fall about 1000 SDSU students take Exercise and Nutritional Sciences Watersport Credit Classes at the MBAC. What many do not realize is that students from other colleges, and non-students alike can also take the same classes.

It's hard to believe that the Summer Camp season is already half gone. Don't worry if you haven't gotten your fill yet because there is still plenty of room in our many of our popular August camp offerings.

La Jolla Festival Arts provides watersports opportunities for persons with disabilities

For people with disabilities, finding affordable and accessible recreation opportunities can be a daunting task. That's where the Torrey Pines Kiwanis Club steps in to help. For the past 20 years they have been hosting annual La Jolla Festival of the Arts™ to raise money to provide affordable recreation opportunities for the disability community. As a beneficiary of the program, the Mission Bay Aquatic Center has been able to design and build accessible water-skiing and kayaking equipment, and to provide over 200 people watersports instruction who otherwise may not have been able to afford or access the equipment.

Melissa Marquardt impresses riders at 2nd Ladies Freeride Clinic

Liquid Force pro rider Melissa Marquardt wowed the participants of the Ladies Freeride Clinic with a impressive demonstration of over-the-top wakeboarding. Considered by many to be one of the top female riders in the world, Melissa competitive record may just justify such a title.

Melissa Marquardt announced as featured pro rider at next Ladies Freeride Clinic

Liquid Force has announced that pro rider and wakeboarding sensation Melissa Marquardt will be the featured guest at the April 9th Ladies Freeride Session from 8-11am at the Mission Bay Aquatic Center. After the success of the first ever LFS, we expect the day to be a great opportunity for local women riders.

MBAC host inaugural Ladies Freeride Clinic

As if blessed by some unseen power, the inagural session of the first ever Ladies Freeride Clinic at the Mission Bay Aquatic Center saw some of the best riding conditions seen on Mission Bay for the past several seasons. The participants, varying in background and experience from youth camp cross-over's, to seasoned verterans, and even a rider who experienced their first pull ever, enjoyed the chance to meet other local women riders.

February 14, 2006-

MBPC Votes 6-4 to recommend City of San Diego solicit proposals for operation of Mission Bay Aquatic Center

Voting against the recommendation of the City Staff to approve terms of a lease renewal for the operation of the Mission Bay Aquatic Center with the Associated Students of SDSU and the Regents of the University of California, the Mission Bay Park Committee voted 6-4 to recommend the City prepare a Request For Proposals (RFP) and explore any interest there may be for other proposals for use of the property on Santa Clara Point.

Mission Bay Aquatic Center Needs Your Support!

The Mission Bay Aquatic Center will be appearing before the Mission Bay Park Committee to secure approval of a lease renewal on February 7th, 6pm at the Mission Bay Room of the Paradise Point Resort. (directions to meeting)

2006 Wakeboarding Equipment Arrives

The MBAC is current readying it's fleet of brand new 2006 Correct Craft wakeboarding and waterskiing boats for spring classes. The new fleet, consisting of 4-Super Air 210 wakeboarding boats and 1-Air 211 wakeboard/waterski hybrid boat, arrived in early January.
