Mission Bay Aquatic Center Needs Your Support!

Mission Bay Park Committee considers MBAC lease renewal on February 7th

The Mission Bay Aquatic Center will be appearing before the Mission Bay Park Committee to secure approval of a lease renewal on February 7th, 6pm at the Mission Bay Room of the Paradise Point Resort. (directions to meeting)

The Mission Bay Aquatic Center is a program of the Associated Students of San Diego State University and the University of California San Diego and our facility is on land leased from the City of San Diego in Mission Bay Park. The current lease for MBAC was approved by the City in 1975 and it is time to renew the lease for another 15-25 years. As part of this lease renewal process several committees of San Diego citizens review the lease before it goes on to the San Diego City Council. The first of which is the Mission Bay Park Committee which is comprised of 15 citizens who will do one of three things: recommend approval of the lease renewal, recommend approval with changes, or recommend to not approve the renewal.

Your support at this meeting is critical to earning the recommendation for approval of our lease renewal by the Mission Bay Park Committee. We encourage you to sign up to speak to the Committee in support of approval of our lease renewal (speakers will be limited to 1 minute) and tell how you, your family, your group, or the San Diego community benefits from MBAC programs. We need the Committee to hear all the wonderful services we offer straight from our users!

If you don’t desire to speak, your attendance and enthusiasm is still very critical to showing the Committee how strongly you feel about the MBAC.

We know that with your help and support that we can secure the approval of the Mission Bay Park
Committee for our lease renewal.
