Nathan Batchelder has been an instructor at the MBAC for the past five years. During his time here he has taught a wide range of classes including, small boat sailing, keelboating, windsurfing and had also been a favorite camp counselor in our youth programs. He has a solid background in sailing and practically grew up on his family's Hobie Cat on Mission Bay . His instructional skills have afforded him the opportunity to teach throughout the world at places such as Club Med Dominican Republic, Club Med Cancun, and Orange Coast College of School of Sailing and Seamanship. He is a senior at CSU San Marcos where he is studying history and hopes to become a high school history teacher. What do you like best about teaching sailing at MBAC and what makes the program unique? "After six years of teaching sailing in various parts of the world, I still enjoy seeing the smile on a students face when they harness the power of the wind for the very first time. I believe the most valuable aspect of our sailing program is the wide range of sailing possibilities available. Whether you want to fly across the water on a Hobie Cat, develop your skills on an Olympic-class Laser, or pursue that dream of cruising the warm waters of the South Pacific, one can make it happen here." |
