ROWING

Back to Previous Page

Liz knew that rowing was the sport for her very soon after joining the UCSD Women's Crew as a walk-on. During her four years on the team she competed both in the open weight, and light weight categories often acting as the stroke of the boat. Her leaderships skills earned her the title of Team Captain her senior year before graduating in 2004 with a degree in Cognitive Neuroscience. She was hired as the UCSD Women's Novice Coach after returning from living in Japan for a year after graduation. Liz is hoping to pursue a Ph.D. in Neuroscience from UCSD and hopes to become a science educator and researcher. She has been teaching students to row at MBAC for the past two years.

What advice do you have for someone who wants to learn to row?

“Rowing is both challenging and fun, and has provided me with some of the most peaceful and satisfying moments in my life. You can take advantage of rowing to relieve the stresses in your life, to push yourself to limits you didn't know possible, or just to relax and enjoy a day on the water.”
