Kathryn Rust grew up in the Central Valley of California and has been a life long outdoor enthusiast. She started studying kayaking when she first moved to San Diego to attend SDSU and immediately fell in love with the sport. Kathryn has been serving as both a kayak and sailing instructor since 2004 at the Mission Bay Aquatic Center. She enjoys teaching all levels of students, but draws special satisfaction from teaching kids and people with disabilities to kayak. When you don't see her on the water, you'll find her rock climbing or hiking around San Diego. Kathryn can be reached at the MBAC at (858) 488-2030 ext. 211.

What do you enjoy most about the sport of kayaking?

"I enjoy the versatility and accessibility of the sport, especially with our facilities here at MBAC. Kayaking is a sport where everyone can find something they like, whether it's taking a relaxing paddle on Mission Bay, adventuring out to the open ocean, or catching a wave while surf kayaking. It’s a sport that’s truly for everyone!"
